‘The Voice’: Why They’re Planning To Replace Christina Aguilera

Now that it has been announced that Christina Aguilera is pregnant with her second child — her first with fiancé Matt Rutler — ‘The Voice’ producers are looking for someone to replace her! A source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY why they’re planning on filling her spot for the hit show.

Looks like The Voice producers are going to be pretty busy once Season 6 wraps! Not long after Cee Lo announced his departure from the hit reality singing competition, we learned that Christina Aguilera is pregnant with her second child— her first with fiancé Matt Rutler. “They are looking into many options” to replace her for the hit show’s 7th season, a source told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.

‘The Voice’ Producers ‘Will Have To Replace Christina Aguilera’

Our HollywoodLife.com source clarified that “they will have to replace Christina as she will be focused on her upcoming child and will not be able to focus on the demands that The Voice puts on the judges.” The Voice premieres its 6th season tonight, Feb. 24, and with seasons generally running for three solid months each, juggling that schedule along with a newborn for the show’s fall season would be no easy feat!

However, Mark Burnett, Executive Producer of The Voice, has hedged on the subject, telling reporters at a Voice press conference that “the hardest part [of filming] is the jigsaw puzzle of schedules” and that “no one can be permanent; it depends on their schedules,” which is incredibly vague! Mark continued, saying that “[replacing Christina] hasn’t even been a discussion,” and we have a hard time believing that.

Carson Daly On ‘The Voice’: The Show [Is] Bigger Than Any One Of Us

However, The Voice is such a huge hit that we’re confident the show would survive without Christina — though we’d miss her dearly! To that effect, Carson Daly actually told HollywoodLife.com last year that “with [The Voice], we always bought into this format that the idea of the show was bigger than any one of us,” and that “Mark Burnett also does Survivor which is on all the time, and they are on, like, season 80.” Well put!

Carson went on to tell us that it “wouldn’t surprise [him] if The Voice was on for a long time” and that it could even be successful if it had to rotate judges, like on Iron Chef.

Carson’s comments, combined with our source’s who told us that “the producers know they will have many options since the show is such a hit,” we’re equally confident that The Voice producers will have an amazing replacement for Christina lined up when the time comes!
