Season 3 of NBC’s The Voice has seen a bunch of new twists, rules, and complications, but after Tuesday’s Top 8 eliminations, there is a new one on their hands. With America sending Dez Duron home, Team Christina is no more. That’s right, coach Christina Aguilera lost all her contenders, and we’re only down to the Top 6!
The results were shocking considering what a fan favorite Duron had been in the competition. And considering the fact that his coach was throwing all of her support behind him, we assumed any Aguilera fan out there would rally harder for Duron– while other coaches’ fans would be splitting their votes between two or three remaining team members.
So with Duron– and Aguilera by extension– out of the competition, what should The Voice fans expect from her over the next few weeks?
“I’m definitely going to be kicking back and ready to be entertained!” Aguilera said when Celebuzz spoke with her after the show.
“You know, you get so invested in your team, and you give 150 percent of your heart and try to think what your next move is, but in reality, at the end of the day, I’m just so happy he can jumpstart what he’s doing and not do cover songs anymore and continue his journey [to] bring Dez Duron into this world.”
It did seem like the eliminations took Aguilera by surprise, but she kept it all in stride, knowing that you may always hope you’re the one left standing at the end of the day, but winning isn’t the end-all, be-all. After all, Aguilera performed on Star Searchwhen she was just a little girl, and she didn’t win, but she has certainly had longevity in this business nontheless!
“Chris Mann didn’t win last year; he came in fourth. But he’s doing the most commercially successful out of any of the winners,” Aguilera said of her previous The Voice finalist.
“He’s doing big things; get ready for Dez to do big things, as well!”
The Voice airs on Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 PM on NBC.

I was kind of sad to see Dez go because he was like a
chameleon which is interesting for an artist. I saw an article where the author
accused him of sounding too much like Michael Buble’ on one of the songs he
sang. I definitely heard a similarity but he still brought his own flavor. I’ve
always got my DISH Hopper set to record the show when it airs. The Hopper has
the PrimeTime Anytime feature and it automatically records everything on the
big four networks so I don’t have to worry about missing anything. I do think that
Christina could have chosen some different songs for him to really showcase his
talent. My DISH co-worker thinks that he deserved to be eliminated because his last
two songs weren’t that great. Again, I think this is a result of song choice. Best
of luck to Dez!
