Xtina’s 2003 hit ‘Beautiful’ is the No.1 inspirational tune for gay people…
Christina Aguilera has beaten the likes of Lady GaGa and Katy Perry to the title of the most empowering song of the last ten years, according to a poll conducted with lesbian, gay and bisexual people.
Equality organisation Stonewall put together the online poll, where over 1,000 supporters were asked which track of the last decade they felt had the most empowering message.
Xtina’s 2003 hit Beautiful came out on top with 33% of the vote, while Boyzone‘s tune Better achieved 25%, leaving it in second place.
Ronan Keating and Co were the first boyband to feature a homosexual couple in the video for Better, where the late Stephen Gately posed in the promo with a male lover.
Christina’s video for Beautiful also includes a gay couple, who openly kiss and hold hands in public.
GaGa’s anthem, Born This Way, placed third with 17%, with Gossip’s Standing In The Way Of Control and Katy Perry’s Firework just behind her.
After learning that she had topped the poll, Aguilera stated: “I’m delighted to have been voted the most inspirational pop act by Stonewall’s supporters – my gay fan base is so important to me and this continues my special relationship with them.”

Yay!! I don’t usually care about who is at the top of the charts or polls or whatever, but Christina deserves this one…Beautiful is one of the best songs ever! Katy Perry and Gaga have been at the top lately but can’t compare w/ this song!
exactly!!!! I don’t hate born this way but there’s no way that song could have won….it’s just a gimmick copy song and gaga brags about her album being album of the decade haha. “Beautiful” proves that there’s more to music than just some catchy beat (which i don’t hate)…meaning is more powerful…soo glad xtina won!! I agree…im usually not too crazy about who’s on top or whatever…but that’s usually becuase the contests are DUMB…like for example “who’s the hottest diva” or whatever it just dumb and pointless but this time..the voting was actually FAIR and made sense! Proves that xtina is STILL the legend after all those comparisons..she’s proved so much. I will NEVER get bored of Beautiful….it will be remembered for more years to come….REAL anthems are remembered 4-ever.
Katy perry and gags fire work and born this way are copies from beautiful, they are trying to just hit the gay market, they look so fake,this song looks lcommercial, nthe other hand Beautiful was soo trrue, soo powerful and with soo much meaning
