Forget Jagger, Christina’s got moves like Pharrell!
After a two-season break, original coach Christina Aguilera is returning to her spinning chair on The Voice. But fans can expect to see a new side of the singer, who welcomed her second child in August, when the NBC reality hit returns for its eighth season on Feb. 23.
“Coming back to The Voice by now is almost like coming back home,” Christina says in the exclusive video above. “With every season that I step away, I grow as a person and that has to affect my coaching.”
Fortunately, it doesn’t impact her teasing personality, as she continues to take playful jabs at her fellow coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, and even perfectly impersonates Pharrell Williams, with whom she’s coaching alongside for the first time, and his “captivating” walk. Dare we say she has even more swagger than he does?!
And though Christina has yet to have a contestant win the competition, Adam admits he’s noticed a bit of a change in Christina, saying, “She’s really focused. She’s really energetic. She has that fire.” Pharrell adds, “She’s special. So, we got something. We got something really good!”
To hear more from the coaches, including why Adam doesn’t care if the show is successful, and to see Blake show off some dance moves, watch the exclusive sneak peek at the new season above!
In season six, Shakira sat in for Christina, while Gwen Stefani took over coaching duties in season seven before NBC announced Christina would be returning for the upcoming season. “We are excited to welcome Christina back to her red chair and can’t wait to see how she mixes things up among Adam, Blake and Pharrell, in what will be an incredibly competitive competition,” NBC boss Paul Telegdy said of her return.
The Voice returns Monday, Feb. 23, on NBC.
