Christina Aguilera burst out from under the shadow of scandal she’s been living beneath to enjoy the Californian sunshine with her son Max today – as she played the role of doting mother with conviction.
The Burlesque star, 30 , even managed some friendly conversation with estranged husband Jordan Bratman, 33, as he handed over the three-year-old’s toys and chair after dropping him off at the Santa Monica pre-school.
It created a startlingly different vignette from the images currently associated with the Ain’t No Other Man singer.
Her toy-boy boyfriend she was arrested with in West Hollywood on suspicion of DUI and public intoxication, was nowhere to be seen today.
She was later cleared and released while Matt Rutler, who had been driving, was charged and only discharged with $30,000 bail.
Aguilera met the 25-year-old production assistant on the set of Burlesque last year, and has seen her reputation plummet since they made their relationship official in November last year.
It has been claimed that they had already been dating for some months, but Aguilera only filed for divorce from Bratman in October, citing ‘irreconcilable differences.’
It’s been downhill from there on in, with performances at the Grammys and the Super Bowl lambasted – the latter saw her forget the words to the National Anthem – and course that arrest.
The mugshot of Aguilera that finally made it’s way into the public domain was terrifying in itself but then the tales of drug excess and a terrible dependence on alcohol began to circulate.
Her arrest sheet seemed to back this up, with officers noting that she was ‘not capable of looking after herself’ and ‘didn’t even know where she lived.’
However, the diva – who has seen disappointing sales of her most recent material – is forging ahead.
Even her most recent blow, a memory card from her camera containing intimate shots was found in Paris hotel, has not stopped the blonde from giving her all to new NBC show The Voice.
Today she posted a picture of herself and co-star Carson Daly on her Twitter page, and wrote: “Always fun to hang with @carsonjdaly on set at @NBCTheVoice. Great day.”
Indeed, Daly and her colleagues on the singing show seem to be helping Aguilera deal with the travails of recent weeks.
Contact Music reported that the singer laughs about her slip up at the Super Bowl during an advert for the new programme, which is based on a Dutch talent show.
Fellow mentors Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine all take turns in recalling their most embarrassing moments on stage – and Aguilera offers up forgetting the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner at the 2011 Super Bowl.
She says, ‘I think I’ve got one that’ll top it all… I’ve slipped a little, tripped a little but I forgot the lyrics to the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. I take the cake.’

Who wrote this mess?? I see they added some crap on, that police sheriff never said anything about Xtina not knowing where she lived, and she was never arrested, the drunk tank is not an arrest. My gosh, I do agree the slips all started with the frat boy, really time to turn him loose.
I agree, not only is this article poorly written, but inaccurate. 1) Christina sang amazingly at the Grammies. 2) There has been no talk about her using drugs. Just goes to show the media likes to exaggerate and make things up about celebs. Can’t believe what you read.
