Sources who attended the Austin “X-Factor” auditions tell TMZ … Simon and L.A. Reidcame up with the brilliant idea to mess with the NBC show by convincing bad singers to audition for “The Voice” instead. L.A. Reid was overheard on set telling one such wannabe, “If you decide to try out again, please do it on another show.” To which Simon added, “Yes, the good news is I hear ‘The Voice’ auditions are happening next week.” Good one guys. But NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt says there is “no intention” to shunt them to “the graveyard.”NEW YORK – As expected, NBC will extend top-rated The Voice to two cycles each season with a fall version of the show featuring Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. The network also will add a third hour of the show on Tuesdays from the outset. Previously, the show’s Tuesday night results show did not begin until several weeks into the season when the competition enters the performance phase. NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt expressed confidence that The Voice could weather two cycles especially with some tweaking to the show’s format, which could include different judges for the second cycle in winter/spring 2013. “I’m not worried about it running out of steam,” Greenblatt told The Hollywood Reporter on Sunday. “But we’re constantly looking at the format and the way the show lays out.” So far this season, The Voice has been averaging a stellar 6.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 15.6 million viewers on Mondays. But Tuesday’s show dips to a 4.0 rating with 10.5 million viewers. This fall format tweaks will include extending the auditions when the show tends to pull in some of its highest ratings; insinuating the popular revolving chairs into the battle rounds; and getting to the live episodes more quickly, according to Greenblatt. “Nobody likes to have a dip in the ratings,” he says. “And I think we’re going to be smart about how to change that.” And viewers could see some new faces in those red chairs next year. While NBC has Aguilera, Green, Shelton and Levine locked in for multiple cycles, Greenblatt concedes that “two commitments a year is more than they expected.” “We love them all and they’re all spectacular and different from one another,” he says. “We love the chemistry.” Meanwhile, JJ Abrams‘ Revolution will get the post-Voice slot on Monday’s next season while Matthew Perry‘s Go On will get The Voice lead-out slot on Tuesdays this fall followed by Ryan Murphy‘s The New Normal. This fall, NBC will bow four comedies - Go On, The New Normal, Animal Practice and Guys with Kids - and two dramas - Revolution and Dick Wolf’s Chicago Fire. The newsmagazine Rock Center with Brian Williams earned a fall berth Thursday’s at 10 p.m. despite its low ratings. Ted Harbert, chairman, NBC Broadcasting, told reporters during a conference call on Sunday that newsmagazines traditionally take a long time to gain a foothold. “They’ve done some fantastic stuff this year,” notes Harbert, citing Bob Costas‘ Jerry Sandusky interview and the recent special on the assassination of Osama bin Laden, which included a first-ever tour of the White House situation room. “They know they need to do more …to have an impact on viewers,” adds Harbert. “Brian Williams is a huge asset that we want to have on television.” The network will open up comedy nights on Tuesdays (with Go On and New Normal) and Fridays, moving Community and Whitney to lead off the night on a typically low-reated evening for broadcast networks. But Greenblatt cautioned that he is by no means shunting Community – which has a small but devoted following — and Whitney to the graveyard. And he noted that NBC is keeping Grimm, “a show that we like,” on Friday nights next fall. “Community tends to survive where ever it goes,” he says. “If you don’t build it they won’t come. There was no intention to extend those shows to the graveyard on Friday.” NBC is holding Smash for midseason where it will run straight through. The number of episodes is not yet set, but NBC executives expect to order somewhere between 16-18. It is also still to be determined if the Broadway-set drama will again air Monday’s after The Voice. Fast affiliate ratings gave the crowning of winner Jermaine Paul a 4.3 rating in the coveted demographic, a 16 percent jump from last summer’s one-hour finale and the series’ best performance since March 25. The super-sized Voice did not work out as well forFashion Star, however. Displaced to 8 p.m., the show managed only a 1.3 rating in the demo, a series low, giving the network a 3.3 average with 18-49-ers for the night and 9.2 million viewers. NCIS dropped one-tenth of a point from last week to a 3.0 rating among adults 18-49, a number it shared with an even NCIS: LA. Unforgettable rose two-tenths of a point in its season finale, earning a 2.0 demo rating. CBS averaged a second-place 2.7 rating among adults 18-49 for the night and topped total viewers with 14.4 million. Fox saw solid growth with the freshman-season finale of New Girl. Following Glee (up one-tenth of a point to a 2.6 in the demo), New Girl jumped more than a half-point, rising 27 percent for a 2.8 rating among adults 18-49. The network averaged a 2.4 adults rating for the night and 5.5 million viewers. Comedies fared well on ABC, with Last Man Standing rising in its finale for a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49 and Cougar Town up 15 percent for a 1.5 in the demo. Dancing With the Stars slid one-tenth to a 2.3 for its double elimination, and Private Practice endured the night’s biggest hit, falling to a series low 1.5 in the demo. ABC brought a 1.8 rating with adults 18-49 and 8.4 million viewers. The CW had new episodes of 90120 (0.6 in adults 18-49) and The L.A. Complex (0.3), both even with the previous week. So proud of everyone and so happy for Jermaine. For tonight’s finale I wanted to take a play on the classic tuxedo. It was a great way to end the season.

Filed under: "The Voice Season 2" Leave a comment | 0 Comment | Join Xtina-Forum.com for further more discussion Tony Lucca didn’t win season two of The Voice – Jermaine Paul did — but the finalist did walk away from the NBC singing competition on better terms with Christina Aguilera. After a whole season of catty back-and-forths between the former Mickey Mouse Club costars came to a head on Monday’s performance episode — Aguilera charged that Lucca’s cover of Jay-Z’s “99 Problems” was “derogatory to women” — the 31-year-old pop star was seen whispering apologetically to Lucca towards the end of Tuesday’s show.
Lucca (who called Aguilera “pathetic” backstage on Monday’s show) responded in kind.
Although Aguilera initially didn’t recall Lucca from their days as Mouseketeers, not all of Lucca’s costars had the same amnesia. “I take pride in the fact that Justin [Timberlake] and JC [Chasez] and people will go to bat for me. Because of that integrity, I would hate to think that through this whole course that [Christina] and I would both suffer on the backside,” Lucca mused. “So, you know, water under the bridge.” And Lucca does not blame Aguilera’s harsh criticisms for his loss on the show — but wondered whether their feuding turned voters off. “Her criticism for the most part has inspired me and led me to a higher plane than I might not have found otherwise,” he surmised to Us. “I’ve tried to turn that all into positive and use it for creative inspiration but I don’t know . . . maybe this is America’s way of saying that they don’t want to reward this sort of petty back-and-forth kind of thing.” Source: Us Weekly |
