Ever since Shakira was first announced as Christina’s replacement, fans of the blond vocalists have been participating in a battle round of their own. And now that we know that both Christina and Shakira will return to their red swivel chairs within the next year, fans are more polarized than ever. While both are undoubtedly superstars, as coaches, they both have their pros and cons. Is Christina too mean? Is Shakira too nice? We’ve heard it all before. Now, we weigh in with our analysis, and you get to tell us which bombshell you prefer:

Team Christina
Pros: Nobody is questioning Christina’s vocal ability. The woman is the definition of a powerhouse, and she clearly knows what she likes in a contestant. She also has a lot to teach. She always gives really constructive criticism, and when it comes time for the coaches to perform with one another, their contestants, etc., we relish the chance to hear her sing live. Also, we love her crazy hats.
Cons: Christina does, at times, cause tension amongst the judges, and sometimes, she can come off as someone who doesn’t really want to be there. Also, we don’t love her fans (not the people, her actual fans).

Team Shakira
Pros: Shakira is intelligent, kind, and spunky, and that comes across in her interactions with the other judges. She’s witty, she knows how to laugh at herself, and the judges’ panel does seem more light-hearted with her in tow. Her passion flows out of her. You can tell how much she is invested in this process.
Cons: Now that the live shows have rolled around, Shakira’s fire is turning into more of a simmer. It feels like she doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, and instead of giving constructive criticism to contestants, she prefers to talk to them about their looks, their performance, how good they are as a person, etc. It’s great to have a heart of gold, but it’s not doing the contestants any good.

Latinos have greatly impacted the music industry thanks to our raw talent, diverse influences, and immense creativity. In honor of the 2013 Grammy Awards on Sunday, we are honoring the best Latino singers and pop artists of all time!

Christina Aguilera

She graduated from the teen pop era, and blasted into the pop scene with full force. The Grammy-winning sensation mesmerized audiences at an early age with her heavy vocals and instant star power. A few years later, she proved she was a crossover pop diva with her hit Spanish album, Mi Reflejo. For her fourth album,Stripped, Christina got a little “Dirrty” and expressed her sexuality with full force. After three more studio albums, Back to BasicsBionic, and Lotus, Aguilera has continued to prove that she’s one of the best voices of our generation.

NYmag: What kind of playlists did you have this week?
Nicole Winhoffer:
Right now we’re listening to a lot of old-school R&B, because the program that we’re doing has slower toning and a lower BPM [beats per minute]. So there’s some Missy Elliot, old Jay-Z, Frank Ocean, Chris Brown, Rihanna. Last week her workout had a higher BPM, so we were listening to a lot of remixes, like remixed Christina Aguilera and Britney songs. It just varies. Sometimes I play Rastafarian music and she’s like, “What is that?” [Laughs.] But it’s good to change it up, keep the imagination and brain working, and keep her body inspired.

With that, Kimmel and Fallon both downed their whiskies, and when Christina Aguilera hit the stage to belt such hits as Lady Marmalade, Fallon and Timberlake jumped up from their seats and began dancing and making each other laugh. Looking out into the audience, Aguilera confessed to wanting some of the Chivas Regal whiskey that had been served earlier in the night, saying: “I was so jealous, I was like, ‘I have to perform.’”

A slew of celebrities descended upon New York’s Lincoln Center on Tuesday night (Apr. 23) to celebrate the TIME 100 list of the Most Influential People in the World, and musical artists like Frank Ocean, Justin Timberlake and Miguel were among those gracing the red carpet. Christina Aguilera — who was honored in a short essay by fellow diva Celine Dion — was also in attendance, looking remarkably svelte in a black Victoria Beckham dress.

The 32-year-old singer and “Voice” coach showed off a slimmer figure while sporting an unfussy look that was highlighted by some Lorraine Schwartz bling. Aguilera also performed “Lady Marmalade” during the star-studded ceremony.

“The first time I heard Christina Aguilera sing, I was totally blown away,” Dion wrote in her essay, released in the annual TIME issue earlier this month. “Without a doubt, she’s one of the most talented artists the world has ever seen and heard, and I think she’s going to continue to amaze us for many, many years to come.”

Aguilera released her fifth studio album, “Lotus,” last November through RCA Records.

In an announcement on her Twitter page, Cher told her 1.4 million followers that her first album since 2001 is ready for their ears.

“I just finished my CD,” the gay icon wrote on Twitter.

The Huffington Post reports the new album will hit stores in September and includes collaborations with Pink, Lady Gaga, Jake Shears and Christina Aguilera.

The album was first slated to be released in March of this year. Perez Hilton reports that a source inside Warner Bros. Records says the reason for the delay was due to “enormous promotions in the works.” The source would go on to say the record would be the “best record of her entire career.”

With a new album, a new tour may be in the works for the 66 year old diva. Cher last performed at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas in 2011. Before that, her farewell tour lasted from 2002-2005.
