The German Fragrance Award is the highest accolade that can be paid to the German fragrance industry. The DUFTSTARS awards have been presented annually in Germany since 1993. The American Fragrance Foundation originally came up with the idea of presenting awards for fragrances back in 1973.

The award is currently presented to winners in the four categories of Classic, Exclusive, Lifestyle and Prestige.

In the Lifestyle Ladies category, the winner was Christina Aguilera’s ROYAL DESIRE.

“We’re delighted to be sharing the Lifestyle Ladies award with our customer, Procter & Gamble. Royal Desire’s glass flacon was manufactured by Gerresheimer,” said Bernd Stauch, Sales Director Moulded Glass.

We know there’s been a lot of talk about mermaids lately, with Lady Gaga hyping some kind of mermaid incantation in her upcoming video (the name’s “Yuyi,” if you must know) andKaty Perry planking as a mermaid on the set of her latest under the sea adventure. But we have to give props to Xtina for reppin’ the long blonde mermaid ‘do since way back in the day.

If you travel with me down memory lane for a second, you’ll remember that Christina was channeling some sea goddess-inspired locks during her “Lady Marmalade” phase, back when Katy Perry and Lady Gaga were just wee apples in the pop world’s eye. And we’re not saying there isn’t room for many pop star mermaids (never thought I’d type that), we’re just saying go ahead and let the mermaid war continue if it must — Christina’s been known to be a “Fighter.” With the best mermaid hair ever.

What does perfume mean to you?
For me perfumes are like accessories, which you can wear always and anywhere. Not like a pair of shoes or earrings that you have to match with an outfit.
A puff of perfume and you feel pampered and wonderful. For me it’s the best accessory a woman can wear to go out.

Do you only wear perfume when you go out?
Oh no! for example I spray it around my bath tub before I wanna take a bubble bath. and when I go to bed my perfume is literally the only thing I wear. I live with my scents.

Your latest fragrance is called Royal Desire. Where does the name come from?
I love to feel like a queen, I love getting pampered, I love being admired, and I want all women to feel like this – royal and treasured.

How important are fragrances for a man?
Only soap and a clean smell is not my thing. All my perfumes are musk based.
I used to go into my husband’s bathroom and sprayed on his scents because of the yummy musk smell. They are incredibly sexy and attractive.

Will you shoot more movies?
I love challenges and acting is definitely a big one. Through my music I express who I am, and for a movie you take a break from your own character and become someone else.
So, yes, I’m already looking forward to more acting in the future.
