Oh, theater fans, where do we evenbegin with Burlesque? We’ve mentioned it before, but now we’ve got the video evidence, and this movie is simply oozing Broadway, with stars galore and enough spangles to make the Cagelles weep with jealousy.

In this all-singing, all-dancing, all-sequins movie musical, small-town nobody Ali (Christina Aguilera, in her acting debut) sets out for Los Angeles full of hopes and dreams and finds her way to the Burlesque Lounge, a club run by former dancer Tess (Cher!). With a little help from some of the club’s more sympathetic denizens, Ali proves herself as the star she is and the club starts packing ‘em in.

As if Cher and Xtina aren’t enough, you won’t believe the lineup of Broadway bigshots on Burlesque’s marquee. There’s Stanley Tucci, fresh off directing Broadway’s Lend Me a Tenor, as the club’s stage manager. Tony winner and Broadway favorite Alan Cumming plays the club’s androgynous host. Broadway baby-turned-television darling Kristen Bell is a catty showgirl. Add Peter Gallagher to the mix, and you’ve got a regular Broadway A-list on your hands. Need we mention that Oscar winner Cher even has her very own stage musical in the works? Where does she find the time?

Burlesque hits theaters November 24.
