DITA Von Teese is worried that Christina Aguilera’s new film Burlesque will put people off entering her profession.
Christina is set to make her silver screen debut as a small-town girl who is thrust into the limelight by a burlesque-bar owner played by Cher. But one person who won’t be queueing up to see it is the Queen of Burlesque herself, Dita Von Teese.
The performer, 38, was in London to launch her drinks compartment, My Private Cointreau Coffret, at Selfridges and didn’t seem that excited about the film.
“I just hope it is representative of what neo-burlesque is and people who see the movie aren’t put off by it.”
When asked if she would pay to see it herself, she hesitated. “Well. I don’t really go to the movie theatre often. I much prefer to see real-life burlesque shows and performances.”
