Christina on her style and signature red lips:

“I was jealous of all the boys on Burlesque because they always had combat boots, but they’d never come in my size,” she says, pouting a little. She’s just become relaxed, style-wise. “Not everything has to be pushed up and out.” At this, she looks down at her chest and cackles out loud.

“I like to keep my options going. I get bored with the same old thing.” The only thing she’s sticking with is her bright red lipstick, a brand called LipSense in Blu-Red. “It’s become my thing, you know? One of my signatures.” She motions to the room around us. “It’s such an accent, red being a favourite colour of mine, throughout the house. You can see red touches everywhere, from the hangers to the chandeliers, to the accents in the carpets.”

Christina on Jordan’s proposal:

“He took me out to dinner in a private room with a fire going. It was a whole tasting menu of different wines and foods. When we got back to our room, there were pink and red balloons covering the ceiling from top to bottom. And he remembered a story I had told, when I was younger, that I used to love scavenger hunts my mom set up around the house, with little clues and presents for each spot that you would go to. So he set up the ring in that fashion. It was really thoughtful and sincere.”

Christina on her sexuality:

In fact, her sexuality has always been a part of Christina’s style and performance – Take for example her most recent video “Not Myself Tonight”, full of S&M images, Through acting, she explained, she worked hard to put her individuality aside. Predictably, it was not something she found easy – “It was very confining after a certain amount of time,” she admits. “That’s where the bondage and latex came in for ‘Not Myself Tonight’, because sexuality is such a freedom. Sexuality is where I feel a lot of times I get to express my voice. Throughout the ages, women are always shamed for it or labelled for it and so it makes me feel empowered to give it a voice and to stand up for it and to be strong about it.”
